To understand how tattoo removal works, it is helpful to understand how getting a tattoo works. Once the tattoo ink is put into the middle layer of your skin (the dermis), your body’s immune system goes to work to attack the foreign substance by sending white blood cells to the tattooed area to pull out as many ink particles as possible. Larger particles that the cells could not break down are left behind leaving the tattoo design. However, over time those cells break the larger particles down, which causes natural fading.
Lasers remove tattoos by breaking up the pigment colors with a high-intensity light beam. Your body’s white blood cells can then carry away the smaller broken-down particles quicker. With time and continued sessions, a tattoo can be faded and/or completely removed.
Curious about pain, tattoo removal will hurt more than getting the ink put on, but the actual treatment will take a tenth of the time per treatment. If it took you an hour to get the tattoo put on the removal procedure should take about 10 minuets to complete. Once the treatment is finished the pain should subside in about 2 minutes.
Most tattoos can take between 5-15 treatments. The number of treatments will depend on the age of your tattoo, the types of ink that was used, and how your body responds to the treatments. After the tattoo is evaluated during the consultation process, your laser technician will be able to give you a more accurate account of how many treatments you will need.
Since every tattoo and client is different it is impossible to guarantee that any tattoo can be removed completely. Our clinic and laser technician will do everything in our power to reduce as much ink as possible in the safest way possible. If you are ever unhappy with your results, please let us know, we are always willing to help you out with pricing for difficult tattoos.
Tattoo removal costs are always the primary factor when looking to fade a tattoo for cover up or remove it. Flat fee pricing can be an affordable alternative to the traditional pricing process used by our competitors.
Breaking the trend in the cost of tattoo removal, Vitality Spa does not charge per square inch, or add additional costs based on tattoo location, the colors in the tattoo or if multiple tattoos are treated at one office visit.
What if I have multiple tattoos I want removed?
We treat every client individually, but whenever possible we’ll treat them at the same time, for the same flat rate price.
There are limits on the overall size and number of tattoos per treatment because healing and aftercare are extremely important. These situations make up only a small portion of our total clients and during your free consultations we’ll explain what can and cannot be done.
I have my entire back / arm / leg that I want removed, is it the same price?
Larger tattoos like full backs, sleeves, chest, etcetera will be broken up into smaller 6x6 inch sections, and each individual section can be treated 4-6 weeks apart in rotation. There is a limit to what we can treat in an office visit to ensure proper healing and recovery. Fully saturated back pieces will be segmented into 3 or 4 treatment areas, each one requiring a separate office visit approximately 6-8 weeks apart. Likewise, fully saturated sleeve tattoos require 4 to 5 segments, fully saturated large chest pieces require 2 segments. During an initial consultation we will inform you of these suggested treatment protocols and schedule your following appointments appropriately.
My tattoo is extremely small, how much will it cost to fade / remove?
Our flat rate pricing covers most all tattoos, but there are circumstances that we will adjust pricing at our discretion for extremely small pieces. For tattoos smaller than 1″x1″, our fee is $80.
Tattoo removal consultations are always free. Call us at 503-479-7111 to get scheduled.
